Valentines Day!

Well, this Valentines Day was a lot different than last years. It started out such a great morning. I woke up early and started baking like crazy! I made a little chocolate cake, sugar and chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate covered strawberries. I even took the time to make sure the chocolate covered strawberries looked professional. I was so proud of myself! Needless to say, Skyler was SPOILED! :)
Valentines Day 2011
I had a doctors appointment that afternoon so I went to my appointment while Skyler hurried to run his meeting for work. We decided that since this wasn't an "important" doctors appointment, Skyler didn't have to be there. The doctor went over my results from our 22 week ultrasound and told me that our baby has SUA. At first I was really confused and didn't really understand what that meant. SUA is when the babies umbilical cord only has two vessels instead of three. She gave me information on it and this is what it said,

"Although SUA may occur alone (isolated) in some cases, SUA may be associated with a collection of other findings that suggest a specific disorder (syndrome). When SUA is found on an ultrasound examination a search for abnormalities of the heart, gastrointestinal tract, brain, urinary tract, and bones will usually be performed to evaluate the baby for other possible abnormalities [4-7].
If additional abnormalities are found there may be as high as a 50% chance that the baby has a chromosomal
abnormality including trisomy 13 or trisomy 18 [10]. Another condition that has been associated frequently with SUA is VATER association (vertebral defects, anal atresia, tracheoesophageal fistula with esophageal atresia, and radial dysplasia). Down syndrome has not commonly been associated with SUA [5,8-10]
If SUA is the only finding and there are no other findings on ultrasound examination the risk of a chromosomal abnormality appears to be very low (0 to 2.6%) [8,10-12]. Nonetheless an amniocentesis may sometimes be offered for further evaluation, since additional findings in some syndromes may go undetected until after delivery."

Of course I started freaking out when I read this. Just a couple days before I was looking at our baby boy on an ultrasound and falling in love with him even more. I already loved him so much and to think of anything bad happening to him terrified me. The doctor told me that I needed to go in for a level 2 ultrasound to make sure his organs were working properly and that there was nothing wrong or abnormal with the baby. She said not to worry and that it was probably nothing, but I still left the appointment completely distraught and called Skyler crying. I came home to Skyler who had tons of flowers for me, and he made me feel so much better. We said a prayer together and after that I knew that everything would be ok. Under the circumstances we decided instead of going out to dinner that night; we would stay home, relax, and watch a movie. Just what we needed.
(his foot is clear up by his face on the left, and he's holding it in his hand)
(FOOT!!)
Today we went in for the level 2 ultrasound. Although I was nervous, I couldn't help but oogle over our little boy. Isn't he already so CUTE!? Because this ultrasound was a lot more in depth;I got to see him in 4D, and my goodness he looks a lot like his daddy! She checked everything and he looks totally perfect and is growing at a good rate, but they noticed a white dot on his heart called a echogenic focus. They said its usually nothing to worry about, but its also a sign of down syndrome. SO I went in for genetic testing to see if that's something we should even worry about. I get the results on Friday, so cross your fingers everything is good! I guess the worrying has just begun, and i've already become a worrying mom! No matter what though, I will love my little boy and he will always be perfect to me. :)
Skyler and I did get to have our Valentines dinner together. He took me to ZELO in downtown Minneapolis yesterday, and it was phenomenal! Probably the best Italian I have ever had. I am so grateful for my husband, and am one very lucky girl to have him as my valentine every year. He makes me so happy and I know he will be an amazing dad. I am in love with you Skyler Wayne Dyer. We have our ups and downs, but I am always reminded that marrying you was the best decision I have ever made!

22 week update!

(Weeks 20-21)
Seeing as how i've had so many complications this pregnancy, I was REALLY excited when I made it to the half way mark. I am now 22 wks and 5 days pregnant and everything seems to be going fairly well! Our little boy has been kicking me and moving around like crazy and i've loved every minute of it. My morning sickness has finally subsided; hallelujah, and I'm at the point in the pregnancy where I feeling pretty comfortable. I was also able to go in for my 22 week mid pregnancy ultrasound. My goodness, our baby BOY is absolutely adorable. The nurse couldn't help but laugh because he WOULD NOT stay still. He was jumping around, kicking, punching, doing flips, waving HI to mom and dad, everything you could possibly imagine.
 (22 weeks 4 day ultrasound)
It was so weird seeing him kick on screen and feeling it at the same time. Needless to say though, it was REALLY hard trying to get a good profile picture of him. He was always curled up in a ball doing flips. Hah so the one we did get is of his head against his chest about to show off his acrobatics and do yet another flip in mommies tummy. It looks like we'll just have to wait till June to see how cute his profile REALLY is! ;) I am so grateful that he appears to be healthy and doing well, he even measured at 23 weeks 1 day. I love him more and more every day and can't help but fall in love with him. OH and yes, we checked and he is STILL a baby BOY!!
Last month I was able to fly to Utah for my best friend Danielle's wedding. It was absolutely beautiful and she looked gorgeous. Danielle and Richie are such an adorable couple and having known Richie before he dated Danielle, I can honestly say that they are the perfect match! Congratulations you two, I love ya both!  Here's some pictures some of us girls took at the wedding, lol it was a good time.
While I was there I also got to spend a lot of time with my sisters and nephews. We went to sushi and dessert one night and it was awesome to just talk to them and laugh about stupid stuff we used to do. I am very lucky to have such amazing and supportive sisters, I love them so much! I also have the best nephews in the entire world! I took Pierson and Nathan to get Red Mango with me, and then spoiled them afterwords and got them toys. One day I took Pierson with me to run errands and ended up taking him to Toys R US and got him and Nathan new Spider Man and Iron Man toys. They literally played with them all day, every day, for that entire week! haha
Now I am back in good ol' Minnesota; and even though it is FREEZING cold here, I am so glad to be home with my husband and puppy. Skyler picked me up from the airport with flowers, and had Rookie waiting for me in the truck. Once we got home I walked into our bedroom to find a brand new bedroom set all set up. I about died, it is absolutely GORGEOUS! I don't have a good picture of it, the only one I have is of just the bed from the furniture place we bought it. Here it is anyways...
He also got me a brand new amazing King size mattress, I sleep so much better now and I honestly don't know how he even expects me to NOT take naps, when our super comfy bed is calling my name! HAH Also, I finally picked out a bedroom set and bedding for our baby boy. I'm so picky when it comes to shopping for him, so it was a huge shock that I even found something worthy of his bedroom. lol I am OBSESSED with this crib and bedding!
It's also a pretty penny, so we are having an Amish furniture business replicate it for us. I am accenting it with some mustard yellow, brown, and cream picture frames and sanding the edges. Also, my BEST FRIEND Whitney is a pro at decorating and she is coming to MN before the baby get here to help me decorate it. I can't wait to start painting his room with Skyler!
Last but not least, MN may be cold but we STILL know how to have fun! Dave & Busters anyone? I love office dinner incentive nights!! :)

Looks whos got a baby bump?! Haha I love my sister in laws!
Well, I've got a lot to do before this baby gets here, so stay tuned for some more belly pics and lots of baby room decorating updates soon. ;)
